Plug不只是塞子

英文難在哪裡？難在英文字有好多個意思，而我們經常只會用它的第一個意思。就像很多人都知道plug是「塞子」或者「插頭」，但是plug這個詞在口語中還有一些別的意思，跟它的本意基本沒有關聯的。今天，我們就來看看其中的三個表達。

1. plug something on TV 做電視廣告

3. plug in 和權貴關係密切並熟知內情

See that tall man who just walked in. He's a good news source: he's a lawyer who's plugged in to the leaders of both political parties and is really in touch with what's going on.

看見那剛進來的高個子吧，他可是很好的消息來源。他是律師，和兩黨的枱麪人物都關係密切，所以熟知政界內情。

我們都知道plug通常可以指電線插頭，動詞片語plug in意思一定是「插進插頭」。電器一插上了插頭就接通了電源，也就能發揮作用了。然而plug in常常隱含更深的意思，多用be plugged in to的形式出現，表示「和權貴/高層關係密切並熟知內情」。
